NEWS FOR THE PEWS…

 

Spire The September issue of Spire is now published and is available for distributors and for purchase at the back of Church. The October issue is due to be published on 26th September. Please let the Vicar have copy for no later than 19th September!

Deanery Synod There will be a meeting on Wednesday, 8th September, at 7.30pm at Brookfield.

Coffee will be served after the 9.15 service at Christ Church, as usual. If you are new or visiting our parish, we wish to extend a warm welcome to you. Please make yourself known to somebody and join us in fellowship in our Coffee Lounge on the north side of the Church.

PARISH WEEKEND AT WYDALE HALL

The Rt. Rev. Martin Wallace, Bishop of Selby, is to be our main speaker in a varied programme of events for young and old at the Parish Weekend from Friday-Sunday, 1st-3rd October. There are still a few rooms available so anybody interested in joining us please have a word with Helen Land (778076) as soon as possible.

 

WE CAN NOW RECYCLE

Old mobiles, printer cartridges, used stamps, coins, phone cards and postcards to raise badly needed funds for Children in Distress.  Please leave them in the black box at the back of Christ Church.

CHRIST CHURCH CLEANING ROTA

Mary Boyce is asking for two new volunteers to complete the weekly Church cleaning rota, more would be very welcome.  This involves a couple of hours dusting, hoovering, etc about four times a year. Friends, wives and husbands, families any combination. Please consider volunteering your help will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Mary on 722552.

 

PAROCHIAL HALL 200 CLUB - NEW MEMBERS URGENTLY NEEDED!

The Parochial Hall 200 Club has been running for several years to support the upkeep and improvement of the Parochial Church Hall and Coffee Lounge. The 200 Club has a loyal following for which we are most grateful but to ensure its continuation new Members are required. Annual subscription is £24.00 per number and can be paid by direct debit either quarterly, half yearly or annually.  A monthly draw takes place with prizes currently totalling £96.00 per month.

WELCOME PACKS

The Visitors Group are willing to deliver Welcome Packs to anyone new to the village but ask for your help to know where they are needed.  If you know anyone who has recently moved please fill in a card from the wall at the back of church, return it to the same box and someone will visit and welcome them.

 

PLENTY OF BRASS

We have many brass fittings and accessories in our church which always look attractive when clean and shining.  Mary Boyce is seeking new volunteers to join the Church brass cleaning rota.  Please contact Mary for further details on 722552.

 

MUSICIANS AND SINGERS

We have a small music group and a singing group which play at our Sunday Alternative Worship. If you would like to join either group please talk to Wendy Appleyard.

 

SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE

We are pleased to welcome visitors and newcomers to our church after our 9.15 service for coffee and fellowship in the Coffee Lounge through the double doors on the north side of the church. We do need to expand our group of helpers to join the Rota to make and serve refreshments. If you are interested, please contact Pauline Titchmarsh (724153) or Val Moore (722805) as soon as possible or meet us in the Coffee Lounge any Sunday morning.

Disabled Parking -
Drivers Please Note

Would members of the congregation and visitors to Christ Church who park in the Church Car Park please ensure that they do not use the Disabled parking area, which is meant for those with ‘Disabled Badges’, nor inadvertently block off the access to the Church Hall for wheelchairs, prams and those on foot by parking across the footpaths. Thank You.
